Truth to be told, in both The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments books, I think Camille and Simon are the characters I truly love.
Camille is like your usual antagonist manipulative bitch, but she’s not. Really. She’s intriguing and fascinating to read; the way she loves Magnus and stays true to her heart for hundred of years, and the way she doesn’t act like she’s tough when the Shadowhunters come for her and acts on reflex, how she charms someone to do something her way, and then her personality changes again—she truly is the most interesting part of the book to read.
And Simon is like the typical guy who’s hopelessly in love with his best-friend, but he’s not. His part is also interesting to read, sarcasm aside, he’s knowledgeable and useful and doesn’t need someone to help him every time he comes across trouble. Unlike Clary who screams for help wants everything to come her way and thinks she’s the center of the universe fuck you. He lets go of Clary because he doesn’t want to hurt both him and her and stays to be her best-friend because he knows they need each other. He’s funny and smart and really knows how to get things going and he decides things on his own. I didn’t really like him on the first book –but the second book got me hooked on him (not because of the drinking-Jace’s-blood, I tell you, though it does have its own part in my list). He still wants to be normal despite everything and he doesn’t torture himself, excluding the feeding part, like other characters do. His part of story is really fun to read.

Also, I might also add both Luke and Jocelyn in the list too?
Because Luke is kind of awesome, although a bit pathetic in my opinion because he’s been in love with Jocelyn for twenty-fucking-years when he could be with someone else and just move on with his life. I love his personality though; stone-cold yet very warm at the same time. He cares for others deeply and knows when something is wrong with someone, but he covers it so well that people rarely notice his affection and the fact that he truly cares.
Jocelyn is, also kind of stupid at first I think, but when you think of it, she really is strong. She fell in love with the wrong guy, and you can’t blame her for that because everyone says so right? That Valentine was—is very charming and everyone simply loves him for what he was—possibly still is. The fact that she ran away pregnant and willing to sacrifice everything to safe her only child (because she thought that Jonathan had died), and eventually managed to build a new life with Luke, is so very brave of her. She keeps and protects and understands and a major badass, that I would love to have a mother like her.
